WILLIAMSBURG PARISH BOARD REPORTS

DECEMBER REPORT

Officers of the Board:  After the annual meeting, the two incumbent and three new board members met to assign duties and responsibilities.  The line-up for 2010 is:  President - Ethan Wingate.  Vice President - Kim Horton.  Secretary - Cari Lehnert.. Director-at Large - Larry Fleisher. Treasurer - Open due to recent Director moving from neighborhood,

Cari Lehnert: and her family moved to the Parish three years ago. Cari was on the board of directors at her previous subdivision where she served as treasurer for two years and then as president for four years. Cari chose to run for a position on the Parish board because she believes that it is important to be involved in the community where she lives. Being fluent in English and Spanish and with her previous subdivision
board experience, Cari looks forward to assisting our community, and the board of directors, to keep Williamsburg Parish the beautiful, safe and clean neighborhood that it is.

Larry Fleisher: and wife Barbara have lived in the subdivision since 1994. Larry has worked in the Engineering Construction field for past 35 years  Over those 15 years the neighborhood  has grown from a few blocks in area to over 800 homes.  Larry served on the board previously in the late 90’s for about five years. Larry used his architectural and engineering skills to design and supervise the construction of our clubhouse, thus eliminating huge third party costs.  Larry would like to see more discussions on adding hike and bike trails down the pipeline easements and further development of our common areas.

Paul Woodward: and wife Margaret have lived in the subdivision since 1999.  Paul has been on the Board for two previous terms and has been the Parish webmaster since 2005.  Paul hopes to see more residents involved in Parish management and activities.  Currently, nearly 900 homes and over 3000 residents with an annual overhead of over $300,000 rely on the volunteered time and energy of a handful of people to manage our environment, recreational facilities, financial administration and security.  "I am sure there are residents in our community who would be willing to help,"  says Paul. " We just need to let them know we need it".

T HE YARD OF THE MONTH IS BACK!! Spring will be time to spruce up your yards!  We are looking for yards that are mowed and neatly edged, special landscaping, colorful flowers and shrubs are a definite plus.  The Yard of the Month Program is designed to reward our residents for their hard work and dedication to their gardening skills.  The program will run from May to July.  Each month, one winner will be chosen.   At the end of each month, the winner will receive a sign to display proudly in their front yard along with a gift card, in recognition of their hard work.  A picture of the winning home and yard will be placed on the website and will receive recognition in the monthly newsletter as well.  Homeowners must be current on assessment fees and not have any outstanding deed restriction violations to be  eligible to win.

2009 and Pre- 2009 HOA fees are severely past due.  If you need to set up a payment plan, please contact Crest Management at 281-579-0761.  You may also pay your dues online through Crest Management using a credit card.  If you have not yet paid your dues, we encourage you to contact High Sierra Management as soon as possible to discuss payment arrangements and avoid the extra fees that will be assessed.

NOVEMBER REPORT

The Annual Meeting was held as scheduled and a sufficient  number of residents or resident  proxies were present to form a voting quorum.  After six and nine years respectively of dedicated service, Brian Maness' and Jim Cloud's current three year terms expired and both opted not to seek reelection.  Their retirement left three open positions on the board.  Three nominees requested coinsideration for the positions, made presentations to the assembled residents, and were duly elected.  The new Board members are Cari Lehnert, Larry Fleisher and Paul Woodward. Our sincere thanks go to Jim and Brian for their long, tireless and effective attention to Board duties and the resultant safe and attractive environment that we enjoy within the Parish.

OCTOBER REPORT

Please make plans to attend the the WPHOA Annual Meeting of Members on October 14, at the Clubhouse, starting at 7:00 PM.  We need at least 88 Homeowners, or Proxies, to be present at the meeting in order to be able to elect the new Board.  It is time to elect three new individuals to the the Williamsburg Parish Board of Directors.  We have two Board Members who are retiring after six and nine years respectively on the Board and one Board member has moved out of our subdivision.  Being a Board member is an uncompensated volunteer position that is responsible for how the maintenance dues we all pay are spent.  If you would like to have a say in Parish Management and can donate time and energy to a position on the Board, please contact Tami or Daniel at High Sierra Management Company.

SEPTEMBER REPORT

Well it seems that temperatures are subsiding some and we have been able to enjoy a little rain.  School is starting back for the 2009-2010 year. Anyone with kids has fought the crowds to get those much needed school supplies and the expensive name brand school clothes. This also means that the 2009 pool season is ending.  So please take this opportunity on Saturday Aug 29th to come out say hello to your all your neighbors at our annual Summer Bash. We hope to see you there. See below for more information.

As most of you know, the cost of living is still going up. The cost of electricity, insurance, solid waste pickup and everyday items on still on the rise and it is no different for our subdivision. As I told you last month, the Board is still investigating ways to hold down the cost of operating our subdivision. We started by changing management companies and we are now looking into different electricity providers and rebidding our insurance. We will be also looking into such items as legal cost, general maintenance providers and landscape companies.

AUGUST REPORT

One more month has past and it appears summer has arrived and we are having record setting temperatures. This does seem to be increasing the population at the pool. If you have not had a chance to enjoy the pool yet, then please don’t let the heat stop you. We have a great team of lifeguards and I am hearing good things about them. We have had a couple of hiccups but all in all everything at the pool is swimming along smoothly.
